This Deer Had One Very Important Update for the Officer

Woopsies! A late-night roadside check in East Texas turned into the kind of wildlife jump scare nobody puts on the shift schedule.
According to reports citing Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace, one of his deputies came upon a doe lying motionless near the road at around 11 p.m. on August 28. From the patrol car, it looked very much like the officer had found a dead deer. So the deputy stepped out with a flashlight to take a closer look.
That was when the situation went from routine to absolutely not.

As the deputy moved closer, the deer suddenly sprang up. The officer let out a startled scream and made a very understandable retreat toward the cruiser before realizing the animal was alive and recovering. A few seconds later, laughter takes over and the deputy can be heard saying, “Okay, we’re good.”
Wallace later said the doe made a full recovery and eventually disappeared into the nearby East Texas woods. No ticket, no paperwork for the suspect — just a four-legged getaway.

The whole thing was caught on the deputy’s dashcam and later shared by Wallace, who leaned into the comedy of it all. The sheriff joked that night shift can still “scare the heck out of a person,” and the internet clearly agreed: the clip had already racked up more than 10 million views as it spread across social media.
What makes the footage work is how quickly the mood changes. One second it is a quiet, slightly somber roadside check. The next, the deer is upright, the deputy is airborne in spirit, and everybody involved appears to have instantly reassessed the evening.
And really, once the deer is confirmed to be okay, you are allowed to laugh. Because somewhere in Trinity County, one doe got up, chose chaos and then vanished into the woods like nothing happened.
