Dave Franco Flips the Interview and Gets Bobby Lee Talking

TigerBelly episode 568 welcomes actor and filmmaker Dave Franco for a very loose trip through movies, fame and Bobby Lee logic.

Sexy actor and filmmaker Dave Franco makes his way into the TigerBelly universe for episode 568, joining Bobby Lee and Khalyla for one of those conversations where the planned interview lasts about five minutes before everybody starts wandering into wonderfully unnecessary territory.

And one little correction to our original setup: according to the episode’s official title, Franco is not the one being put in the hot seat — he puts Bobby there. Naturally. Give Bobby Lee enough time with a guest and somehow the interviewer becomes part of the story.

The August 19 episode, officially titled “Dave Franco Puts Bobby in the Hot Seat,” clocks in at a little over one hour and 42 minutes. The conversation bounces from something as simple as taste in cars to growing up with older brothers, getting recognized at the mall and the strange little realities that come with being recognizable without necessarily wanting to make a whole production out of it.

From there, the movie talk opens up. Franco gets into working with Alison Brie, Rotten Tomatoes, horror movies and his history with 21 Jump Street, while Bobby does what Bobby does best: interrupts the normal rhythm just enough to pull out the stories you probably were not expecting to hear when the episode started.

There is even something called “the freezer list” in the official episode rundown, which sounds exactly like the sort of phrase that should not make sense until you have spent an hour inside TigerBelly. The pair also wander through horror recommendations and the way audiences judge movies now, giving Franco room to talk as much like a filmmaker and movie fan as the actor everybody recognizes.

That is where the episode works best. Franco has always had an easy, low-key screen presence, and that translates nicely to the podcast format. He does not arrive trying to wrestle control of the room from Bobby. He just plays along, pushes back when needed and occasionally turns the spotlight directly back onto the host.

In true Bobby form, the laughs and the truth tend to arrive in the same bag. What starts as a celebrity guest spot becomes a sideways conversation about movies, taste, embarrassment and the things people admit once everybody stops pretending this is a normal interview.

Franco is game for it, Bobby gets turned into part of his own interrogation, and episode 568 ends up feeling less like a press stop and more like someone accidentally left the cameras running during a very funny hang.
