The TFI Friday Desk Finds Its Way Back to Richmond
TFI Unplugged made thee perfect comeback play for the return of “Ted Lasso,” gathering Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple and Brendan Hunt around Chris Evans’ famous desk for a Season 4 special recorded in Los Angeles.
The conversation arrived just as Apple TV sent AFC Richmond back onto the pitch after a three-year break. Season 4 premiered globally on August 5, 2026, with Ted returning to England for a new challenge: coaching a second-division women’s football team.
That premise gives the series a genuine reason to reopen instead of simply undoing the Season 3 farewell. Ted is back, but Richmond is not frozen in place waiting for him. Rebecca, Keeley, Beard and the rest of the club have moved forward, leaving the coach to find his role inside a team and institution that changed while he was away.

Chris Evans Gets the Cast Talking Beyond the Season 4 Sales Pitch
The best cast interviews usually happen when nobody is forced to pretend that every answer is the first time the question has been asked. Evans already has history with the “Ted Lasso” team, and the TFI setup gives the reunion more room to behave like friends catching up than actors moving through a tightly timed press line.
Sudeikis and Hunt can speak to the series from both sides of the camera as co-creators, writers, executive producers and performers. Waddingham and Temple, meanwhile, have helped turn Rebecca Welton and Keeley Jones into the emotional center of a show that began with a football coach but quickly became much larger than the man named in its title.

Juno Temple Quietly Drops the Special’s Biggest Personal Reveal
The conversation also produced a surprise unrelated to formations, transfers or who gets the next locker-room speech. Temple revealed that she had quietly married Michal Szymanski, whom she met while filming the show’s second season.
Szymanski was working as Waddingham’s driver when Temple asked her co-star whether she could invite him on a date. Waddingham approved, helped the pair create opportunities to meet during production and later described them as beautifully suited to one another.
Temple said the wedding took place sometime during the gap between Seasons 3 and 4 and added that the couple had bought a home together. Her castmates responded with the kind of immediate applause that made the disclosure feel less like a polished celebrity announcement and more like a friend finally telling the table what everybody had been waiting to celebrate.
Season 4 Gives Ted Lasso a New Team and a Real Reason to Return
Apple TV’s official setup places Ted back at Richmond to coach a second-division women’s team. The change follows the idea Keeley presented to Rebecca at the end of Season 3 and lets the new episodes examine the club through a different sporting structure, set of expectations and group of players.
Sudeikis, Waddingham, Temple, Hunt, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift return, while Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely join the cast. The season launched with one episode and continues weekly on Wednesdays through October 7.
The three-season run had already completed a clear emotional arc, which means Season 4 cannot survive by simply repeating the old Believe speech with a new scoreboard. The women’s-team storyline gives it a chance to rebuild the ensemble, challenge Ted’s instincts and let familiar characters confront a version of Richmond they have not managed before.
And before all of that fully unfolds, “TFI Unplugged” gives the original core four a desk, a host and enough space to remind viewers why watching them together still works.
