One patriotic entrance went sideways fast.

Woopsies, but make it Fourth of July weekend dramatic. A skydiver carrying a large American flag came gliding into the Folsom Pro Rodeo in Northern California when the planned patriotic entrance suddenly turned into a full-blown crowd-gasp moment.

The scene unfolded on Thursday, July 2, 2026, during the rodeo’s Independence Day weekend run in Folsom, California. Video from the event shows the skydiver descending toward the arena with the flag trailing behind him before the flag appeared to snag on a nearby tree.

And from there? The whole entrance went from “grand patriotic arrival” to “everybody in thee stands just forgot how to blink.”

The flag’s snag reportedly pulled the performer off course, sending him down toward the area by the stands and into or near a tent where spectators were gathered. The footage is exactly the kind of clip that makes the internet collectively lean forward and go, “Wait — did that really just happen?”

Thankfully, the story did not end with the kind of update nobody wants to read. Folsom Pro Rodeo organizers later said the skydiver, identified as Ross, was safe and walked into the arena after the jump to a standing ovation. That is one way to turn a terrifying landing into a very unexpected round of applause.

Even more wild: organizers said Ross planned to skydive into the arena again, and follow-up reports said he returned with a successful landing during the rodeo weekend. Nerves of steel? Apparently. INYIM would still need a chair, a cold drink, and maybe ten minutes of silence after that first landing.

The Folsom Pro Rodeo is a long-running Northern California summer tradition, which makes the clip even more surreal. One second it is a classic arena entrance with a massive flag overhead; the next, everyone is trying to process a parachute, a tree, a tent, and a collective “oh no, baby, what is you doing?” moment in real time.

It is a reminder that live events are live events for a reason. You can plan the entrance, cue the crowd, raise the flag, and still have nature step in like an unpaid stunt coordinator with terrible timing.
