It’s Friday Escapism, which means it’s time to zen out, breathe deep, and indulge in a silly‑nilly present‑day tale that proves the world is still delightfully absurd.

Before we even get to the story, the local news anchors were already marveling at the weather — 50‑degree rain on Friday and Saturday — before pivoting into something even wilder: a 69‑year‑old Long Island grandfather going to battle over a license plate that reads “PB4WEGO.” Yes — pee before we go. The universal parental mantra turned into a vanity plate.
For Seth Bykofsky, it wasn’t just a plate — it was his “bladder battle cry”. A motto he recited before every family road trip as his kids were growing up. When the plate became available five years ago, he grabbed it instantly. People laughed, smiled, and got the joke.
Fresh music, bold entertainment, and men’s fashion—one tight email a week.
Then January hit, and the laughs turned into letters. The DMV mailed him new plates and demanded he remove and destroy the originals, calling them “objectionable.” Seth pushed back, insisting nothing about “PB4WEGO” violated any standards. After a second letter, he reluctantly pulled the plates — but pointed out that a woman in New Hampshire with a similar plate had been allowed to keep hers.

So he fought. Hard.
And the story made its way all the way to Albany.

Governor Kathy Hochul herself called Seth to tell him the plate could stay on the streets (turn0browsertab1). The DMV reversed course, supported the Governor’s decision, and reinstated his beloved plate.
Seth called it a personal victory for the little guy — and an even bigger triumph for free speech.
