Keith Forsey: A Musical Legend
Keith Forsey’s career is nothing short of legendary. Starting out as a percussionist in the mid-1960s, Forsey quickly made a name for himself as a drummer for The Spectrum and Udo Lindenberg’s Panik Orchester. By the late 1970s, he was a disco pioneer, working with iconic artists like Lipstique, Claudja Barry, and Boney M. He even teamed up with the legendary Giorgio Moroder, playing drums on Donna Summer’s hit album “Bad Girls.”
But Forsey’s talents didn’t stop there. He co-wrote the Academy Award-winning song “Flashdance… What a Feeling” with Moroder and Irene Cara, a track that topped the charts and won a Grammy Award.
A Producer Extraordinaire
In the 1980s, Forsey’s production career skyrocketed. He produced Billy Idol’s debut album and the hugely successful “Rebel Yell,” helping to shape the sound of the 80s with his unique blend of synthesized pop, punk grit, and heavy metal influences.
Forsey also made his mark on film soundtracks, co-writing “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” for the movie “The Breakfast Club,” a song that became a defining anthem of the era.
