Billie Eilish Unleashes B.T.S. Challenges Of Filming Her Hit ‘Lunch’ Music Video.
"Billie Eilish introduced her Hit Me Hard and Soft era with the 90s-inspired music video for “Lunch,” in which the superstar is seen dancing around in oversized, sporty attire as she muses the cheeky lyrics.
In a new installment of Vevo’s Footnotes, the 22-year-old singer gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the colorful visual, noting that that clip was “an ode to 90’s music videos and all the videos I grew up loving. I’ve always loved the simplicity of performance takes and I didn’t want a lot going on in this video.”
She added that she was inspired by icons like Tupac, the Spice Girls and Green Day, before revealing that the hilariously unexpected challenge of filming the “Lunch” music video was, fittingly, eating the food. In the clip, she’s seen snacking on various foods including apples and cherries. “I had a giant table of food that I would take bites of and spit out throughout the day,” she recalled. “I should have done that from the beginning though, because at first I was actually eating everything and I was full immediately. It was kind of a lot, but worth it.”
Overall, the self-directed video was meant to be simple. “I didn’t want to make the video directly on the nose. I thought that the lyrics spoke for themselves and then the video would be an exciting visual to watch while you listen to the lyrics. I just wanted a classic, simple video,” she shared.
In other Billie news, the star was recently announced as Spotify‘s most streamed monthly artist, replacing The Weeknd at the summit. By passing the 100 million monthly listener ceiling in June 2024, she is the third and youngest artist to ever do so, following both The Weeknd and Taylor Swift." - Billboard.com
