Hailing from thee Canadian blue skies, it’s thee alt synth-pop songbird, Jane Inc., and her mesmerizing music video, “what if.” Directed by Lucy Kerr, the video is a visual dreamscape lifted from Jane Inc.’s third album, “A RUPTURE A CANYON A BIRTH.”

Also known as musician Carlyn Bezic, Jane Inc. crafted this piece from a deeply personal place—after a serious series of unfortunate events that reshaped her life and artistry. It began with a semi-truck crashing into her already worn and torn tour van. While she and her group mates miraculously came out breathing, the incident marked the commencement of a total evolution.
Returning home, she ended a romantic relationship of ten years, and soon after, faced an early-stage cancer diagnosis in her left vocal cord. From this rupture came rebirth.

“what if” imagines a fantasy timeline between two selves—Carlyn and her alter-ego Jane Inc. Carried by an infectious bass drum and hypnotic synth beats, the two face off in a surreal confrontation. Jane, in her final form, takes over the rest of the video—running amuck through grassy fields and parked cars, embodying freedom, chaos, and rebirth.
Carlyn shared:
“Carlyn walks away to continue a life in which the accident never happened, leaving Jane (pure, unadulterated, in her final form) to be born, hungry for life.”
We love this almost 8-minute sonic dance journey because it’s not just a song—it’s a manifesto of survival, a visual poem of transformation, and a disco-drenched catharsis. It’s the kind of art that makes you feel seen, moved, and ready to dance through your own evolution.
