A couple weeks ago, INYMMedia reported an Altadena homeowner says a 500-pound black bear that has taken up residence beneath his home does not have plans to leave.

Wildlife officials have confirmed that black bears are increasingly common in foothill communities like Altadena, often drawn by food sources and shelter spots. California Department of Fish and Wildlife advises residents to secure trash bins and avoid feeding wildlife. This particular bear has become something of a local celebrity, with neighbors sharing sightings and videos across social media.
