Los Angeles Fourth Grader Becomes Youngest Designer to Debut a Collection at Paris Fashion Week

Fourth grader and sewing prodigy Max Alexander has become the youngest designer ever to debut a full collection at Paris Fashion Week.

Max Alexander, a fourth grader from Los Angeles, has officially become the youngest designer ever to debut a full collection at Paris Fashion Week, a milestone that blends childhood imagination with high‑fashion prestige.

Max Alexander — often described as a sewing savant and a designing diamond — is just two days shy of turning 10, yet he’s already commanding the global fashion spotlight. When asked why his Paris debut is such a “bigger, bigger, bigger deal,” he answered with the clarity of someone far beyond his years: “Because Paris is the home of fashion.”

Inside his studio, Max moves with the energy of a kid and the precision of a seasoned designer. Every garment must be tried on, every fabric touched, every detail felt — because, as CBS LA reporter Joy Benedict observed, creativity “seeps from every seam.” And here at INYIM, we know a thing or two about natural vision and precision — the kind of instinct you simply can’t duplicate. Max has it in spades.

His latest bag — crafted from burlap with a custom lining — sold out in 24 hours, and the charms he designed vanished just as quickly. But behind the whimsy is a designer with a mission. His Paris collection features 15 dresses, with 90% of the show made from biodegradable, recyclable, or deadstock materials. Max explains deadstock with charming honesty: leftover or damaged fabrics that “would have been in the landfill unless I rescued it.”

His pieces include coats made from coffee bags, a recycled wedding dress, and even a dress designed to hold fresh flowers that fall when released — sustainability meets imagination in a way only a child prodigy could envision.

Max first went viral at age seven, when his mother created an Instagram account so family could see his designs. Within days, he had over a million followers. Today, he has nearly six million, his own design label, employees, and a Guinness World Record as the youngest person to design a runway show. And yet, as CBS LA notes, he’s still very much a kid — one who loves sewing, designing, and dreaming big.

Now, with Paris Fashion Week behind him, Max is ready to show the world what comes next. And if this is what he’s doing at nine? The fashion world better buckle up.
