Cavin Yarbrough, one-half of the iconic husband-and-wife R&B duo Yarbrough & Peoples, has passed away due to complications from heart disease.
Together with his wife and musical partner Alisa Peoples, Cavin helped shape the sound of early ’80s R&B and funk. Their biggest hit, “Don’t Stop the Music,” became a dancefloor anthem and a cultural touchstone—reaching No. 1 on the Billboard R&B chart and No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1981.
Alisa shared: “He was the love of my life, my protector. Now he’s my guardian angel.”
From Dallas to the world, Cavin’s legacy lives on in every groove, every lyric, and every heart he touched.
