Duffy is a Welsh singer-songwriter whose smoky, retro-soul voice made her an international star with the 2008 album Rockferry. Raised in Wales, she broke through with the global hit “Mercy,” pairing 1960s-inspired soul arrangements with a distinctly modern pop presence. After the follow-up Endlessly, Duffy largely stepped away from public life and recording for years before gradually re-emerging, leaving a compact but unmistakable catalog centered on voice, melody and vintage soul.
