Deee-Lite were a New York dance group whose exuberant mix of house, funk, techno, hip-hop and club culture exploded into the mainstream with 1990’s “Groove Is in the Heart.” Formed in the late 1980s around vocalist Lady Miss Kier and DJ Dmitry, with Towa Tei joining the core lineup, the trio turned World Clique into a colorful manifesto for an inclusive downtown dance floor. Infinity Within and Dewdrops in the Garden pushed further into political themes, ambient textures and deeper club music before the group disbanded.
