Debbie Harry

Debbie Harry is an American singer, songwriter and actress best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of Blondie. Emerging from New York’s downtown punk and new wave scene in the 1970s, she helped shape the group’s adventurous blend of rock, pop, disco, reggae and early rap. Blondie’s breakthrough records included Parallel Lines, Eat to the Beat and Autoamerican, producing enduring hits such as “Heart of Glass,” “Call Me,” “The Tide Is High” and “Rapture.” Harry also established a substantial solo career with albums including KooKoo, Rockbird, Def, Dumb & Blonde and Necessary Evil. Her screen work includes roles in Videodrome and John Waters’ Hairspray. Blondie was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.
