CHVRCHES are a Scottish synth-pop band formed in Glasgow by Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty. Breaking through in the early 2010s with “The Mother We Share,” the trio paired bright analog-style synthesizers with emotionally direct songwriting and Mayberry’s clear, commanding vocals. Albums including The Bones of What You Believe, Every Open Eye, Love Is Dead and Screen Violence moved between euphoric electronic pop and darker alternative textures, while later singles and anniversary releases kept the project active into the mid-2020s.
