Sam Dezz Carves His Own Instagram Lane With Wilhelmina LA

Sam Dezz steps into the FY Magazine! interview chair with the kind of fresh-faced, digitally fluent momentum that makes sense for a model carving his own lane between Instagram, Los Angeles, and Wilhelmina LA.
Photographed by Brian Jamie, Dezz opens up about how it all materialized, explaining that his social media rise began in ninth grade after posting selfies and personal photos. From there, he says consistent posting helped take him from 10,000 followers in his first week to nearly 700,000 followers.

Asked to describe his best self in three words, Dezz keeps it direct: “Driven, loyal and outgoing.” He also shares that he was discovered through a video he made with one of his friends, a perfectly social-media-era origin story for a newcomer whose audience helped move the modeling door open.
Fashion, he says, was not always something he was deeply chasing, but it has grown into something he is passionate about. The modeling experience he values most is not tied to one specific job either. For Dezz, meeting other models and experiencing new places is where the magic sits.

Los Angeles also gets its own shoutout. Dezz calls the city amazing, fast-paced, and always alive with something to do. When asked what city inspires him most, he names LA again, pointing to the people, the energy, and the opportunity around him.
Model Notes
LA newcomer energy with a digital-first edge.
Start with the original interview, then shop easy grooming and travel basics that fit Sam’s last-minute job essentials.
His favorites keep the picture even more specific. Queen gets the all-time band nod, Frank Ocean’s “Self Control” is the go-to tune of the moment, and when it comes to analog or digital, spicy or sweet, beach or city, Dezz goes digital, sweet, and beach.
For last-minute jobs, his essentials stay practical: face wash, toothbrush, hair gel, and deodorant. On social media, he credits Instagram with opening doors and introducing him to people with similar interests, while keeping a grounded view of himself away from the numbers.
There is a sweet optimism running through the interview too. Dezz names his mother as his biggest inspiration, says the wisest lesson he has learned is to be yourself and bring positivity everywhere you go, and says that if he could change anything in the world, he would work toward solving world hunger.
