On what would have been John Lennon ’s 86th birthday, Yoko Ono ’s IMAGINE PEACE TOWER (2007) lights up on Viðey Island in Reykjavík, Iceland for the 19th year.
Ono dedicated the tower to Lennon at its unveiling on October 9, 2007, his 67th. The words IMAGINE PEACE are inscribed on its Wishing Well in 24 languages.
The light shines every year from #October 9 through the end of December and changes with Iceland’s weather: a clear pillar on cloudless nights, rainbow refractions in rain or snow, and beams reflecting off moving clouds.
