ALAINPAUL brought Spring/Summer 2027 to Paris with the body in motion firmly at the center — exactly where designer Alain Paul likes it.

The collection explores the space between the stage and the underground, pulling inspiration from choreographers Hofesh Shechter, (LA)HORDE and Sharon Eyal while folding in the instinctive charge of nightlife. Instead of treating movement as a loose moodboard reference, ALAINPAUL makes it the actual language of the clothes: pieces shift, adapt and look as though they are meant to keep moving long after the runway ends.

The show extended that idea beyond styling. A live performance developed with choreographer Eric Christison unfolded to a score by sound designer Senjan Jansen in collaboration with Shygirl, bringing contemporary dance and underground nightlife into the same orbit.

On the clothes themselves, leather, denim and knitwear are distressed, bleached, given metallic finishes and worked by hand. Utilitarian details become decoration, while pieces are designed to transform or be worn in unexpected ways. Knitwear picks up cues from rehearsal clothing; even the footwear keeps the dance connection intact, with ballerinas and a distorted derby informed by the physical imprint years of pointe work can leave on the foot.

The tailoring is where the collection really sharpens its posture: projected shoulders, sculpted waists and a reversed peak lapel push single-breasted jackets and coats into something more theatrical without losing the wearability underneath. The result feels less like costume and more like a dancer’s wardrobe caught somewhere between rehearsal, performance and whatever happens after the lights go down.

That through-line makes sense for a house founded around the idea of choreographing clothes around the body. ALAINPAUL has always treated dance as more than inspiration; it is structure, attitude and discipline. Spring/Summer 2027 simply turns the volume up and lets the wardrobe move.
