Action, Drama, a Potato on a String — Something for Everyone
Action, drama, a potato on a string and a song by Hilary Duff. There’s someTHING for everyone!
The pop princess has unleashed a brand-new official video entitled “CATastrophe”. Colorfully ethereal, wonderfully oversized and very much living inside a Dr. Seuss state of mind, the track was written especially for Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s upcoming The Cat in the Hat.

“CATastrophe” arrived October 2 as a new Hilary Duff single and serves as an original song for the animated film. Duff wrote the track with Matthew Koma, Madison Love and Brian Phillips, while Koma and Phillips handled production. The official video was directed by Dano Cerny.
For Duff, the song also taps into something underneath all the color and chaos. She described “CATastrophe” as being about the feeling of having your whole world picked up and moved without anyone asking first — fitting neatly with the movie’s story of siblings Gabby and Sebastian struggling with a move to a new town.
The film puts Bill Hader behind the voice of the Cat, with Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Xochitl Gomez, Giancarlo Esposito, America Ferrera, Tituss Burgess, Bowen Yang, Paula Pell and Tiago Martinez also in the voice cast. Directors Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni send the Cat on what Warner Bros. describes as his toughest assignment yet: cheering up Gabby and Sebastian before his particular brand of magical mayhem finally catches up with him.
Inside Hilary Duff’s Colorful “CATastrophe” World
“CATastrophe” will also appear on The Cat in the Hat (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), due October 30 through WaterTower Music. The soundtrack pairs Duff’s original song with Lorne Balfe’s score and “The Cat in the Hat Theme Song,” written by Tim Minchin and performed by FITZ & Tim Minchin featuring Hader.
As for the movie itself, The Cat in the Hat arrives in theaters and IMAX across North America on November 6, 2026. Until then, Hilary has given this Cat his own very colorful pop princess moment.
