Brandon Frankel paid the thirst-trap tax for his wifey’s No. 1 hit
True to nature, Gabourey Sidibe’s husband Brandon Frankel is always up to something online. Whether it be silly, protective or informative, he’s sane common-sense fun in a corner of celebrity social media that can get painfully manufactured. While plenty of Hollywood partners wilt under the pressure, Brandon sure seems to fit that Cinderella glass slipper neatly.
His latest contribution? Underwear. Frankel took to Threads after Sidibe’s return as Queenie in American Horror Story: 13 helped the new season land at No. 1 on Hulu following its three-episode premiere.
There was technically a deal involved. Before the chart win, Brandon told followers that if viewers pushed AHS 13 to the top spot, he would deliver more thirst traps. The show did exactly that, and the man followed through. His post boiled down to one very Brandon sentiment: he always knew the series was headed to No. 1, but he was more than happy to use the occasion as an excuse to get half naked and support his wife.
Gabourey, naturally, had already issued her own disclaimer. She made it clear that she had not instructed her husband to do any of this and joked that she actually advised against it — because Brandon simply enjoys being naked on the internet. Marriage, but make it crowd-sourced.
The timing could not have been better for the couple’s running online bit. Sidibe is among the major returning faces in the 13th installment of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s horror anthology, joining a stacked reunion that includes Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts and more.
Sidibe first entered the American Horror Story universe as Queenie in 2013’s Coven, later reprising the role in Hotel and Apocalypse. More than a decade later, Queenie is back in the mix — and apparently bringing Hulu chart domination and accidental underwear content along with her.
Frankel and Sidibe have never exactly presented themselves as the hushed, carefully curated Hollywood-couple type. The pair married privately in 2021 and welcomed twins Cooper and Maya in 2024. Their social feeds have since become a steady mix of parenthood, affection, jokes, mutual hype and Brandon occasionally doing the absolute most.
And Sidibe knows it. She has repeatedly joked in interviews about just how enthusiastically her husband supports her — from defending her online to being the kind of partner who will apparently turn a streaming chart milestone into a full-blown wardrobe reduction.
