Woopsies! Wrong Bird, Wrong Time. An escaped emu turned a quiet country road in Salcombe, Devon into its own wrestling ring after a man tried to hold the towering bird down — only for the emu to break loose and headbutt him straight across the road.
The whole thing went down on September 9 after the exotic bird bolted from its enclosure. Video of the encounter shows the man attempting to restrain the emu on the pavement while traffic waits nearby, but the bird clearly had other plans.

The Emu Escapes the Hold — Then Comes the Headbutt
Footage captured by a passing motorist shows the man already locked into the struggle, using his body weight to keep the bird down. Emus may look slightly goofy from a distance, but these are large, powerful flightless birds capable of standing close to six feet tall and moving at serious speed.
So once this particular bird decided the roadside takedown was over, things changed quickly. The emu twists free, regains its footing and then lunges forward, sending the man stumbling away after a sharp head-first shove.
There is a brief pause where everyone involved seems to process what just happened — man, bird and motorists included — before the emu continues down the road.
According to reports surrounding the clip, the bird eventually headed back toward its fenced enclosure. So despite the chaos, the road did not end up with a permanent new feathered resident.
The Viral Clip Has Already Passed Two Million Views
The video quickly spread online, collecting more than two million views as viewers watched the bizarre little roadside showdown unfold. And honestly, the appeal is not difficult to understand: it starts like an animal rescue, briefly becomes amateur wrestling and ends with an emu landing the final move.
