Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman Bring the Owens Sisters Back to the Coven

It’s finally coming. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back as Sally and Gillian Owens in Practical Magic 2, returning to the witchy world that has somehow only gotten more beloved in the 28 years since the original movie first cast its spell.
And yes, the girlies know exactly what kind of reunion this is. Sitting down with Fandango correspondent Nikki Novak, Bullock and Kidman talk about stepping back into their roles nearly three decades later, while the sequel’s new generation joins the conversation about the romance, sisterhood and family magic powering the Owens story forward.
The Owens Family Gets a New Generation of Trouble
Warner Bros. says the sequel returns to a world of “moonlit mischief” and ancestral magic as the Owens sisters face the dark curse threatening to unravel their family once and for all. Alongside Bullock and Kidman, the cast includes Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, Solly McLeod, plus returning favorites Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing.
Susanne Bier directs the sequel, with a screenplay credited by the official film site to Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett and Kelly Marcel, drawing from Alice Hoffman’s The Book of Magic.
The Fandango chat gets especially chaotic when Lee Pace gets into his rather memorable first day of filming — involving what the interview cheerfully frames as a very “magical” birthday-suit situation. Meanwhile, King, Williams and Maridueña dig into the sequel’s younger romantic threads and the family bonds sitting underneath all that delicious Owens chaos.
Practical Magic 2 opens in North American theaters on September 11, 2026, with international rollout beginning September 9.
