Duke Nicholson leads The Deputy as part-time Deputy Toby Sawyer, whose overnight assignment goes sideways when the body he has been ordered to guard simply disappears. Chief Krueger (William H. Macy) wants answers, while Toby’s search begins exposing the kind of small-town rot that does not stay polite for long.

Directed by Matt Sukkar from a screenplay by Carlo Bernard—one of the creators behind Narcos and Griselda—the action-crime thriller is based on Victor Gischler’s novel. The ensemble also includes Tiffany Haddish, Stephen Dorff, Billie Lourd and Julia Fox.
As Toby follows the vanished body, he runs into a truck carrying immigrants, a freezer packed with cash, vengeful siblings and cops who have spent years looking the other way. Deputy Billy Banks (Stephen Dorff) pressures him to drop it, leaving Deputy Amanda Jackson (Tiffany Haddish) as the one officer who may actually be on his side.
Basically, the new guy has one missing corpse, a family to provide for and an entire town’s buried filth trying to turn him into the next body. Well Go USA Entertainment will release The Deputy in theaters and on digital on September 25, 2026.
