Kinky Boots, Patterned Tights And Enough Color To Stop Traffic
The footage is a perfect little time capsule of swinging-sixties excess. Knee-high boots arrive in sharp blocks of color, textured finishes and graphic designs, while tights and dresses compete rather than coordinate politely.
“Kinky boots” had already become shorthand for the fashionable tall boot, but by 1967 the silhouette was being pushed into increasingly playful territory. The result was footwear that behaved less like an accessory and more like the headline.
Flower Power Did Not Stop At Dresses And Printed Blouses
Psychedelic design spilled across the entire wardrobe. Swirls, flowers, stripes and geometric motifs moved from textiles into boots, shoes and hosiery, allowing the same visual language to run from shoulder to toe.
The most fabulous detail is how practical categories vanish. Day shoes are theatrical. Evening shoes are playful. Leather boots are treated like canvases. Everything has permission to be louder than necessary—which, frankly, was the entire point.
