Akasha Takes the Throne as AMC’s Vampire Saga Evolves Again
Whoo-hoo! AMC’s Anne Rice vampire saga is officially returning for a fourth season—and the series is changing its title once again. Following The Vampire Lestat, the next chapter will be called Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned, placing Akasha at the center of the story.
The renewal was announced during the show’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, just days after the third-season finale. Cast members Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian and Sheila Atim joined executive producers Mark Johnson and Hannah Moscovitch for the announcement.

Sheila Atim will return as Akasha, the ancient vampire queen whose presence loomed over The Vampire Lestat. Season four will draw from Anne Rice’s 1988 novel The Queen of the Damned, the third book in The Vampire Chronicles, as the established characters confront a force powerful enough to put both their world and ours in danger.
The title change follows the show’s increasingly novel-by-novel approach. Seasons one and two adapted Interview with the Vampire, while season three shifted the focus—and the series title—to The Vampire Lestat. Now Akasha gets thee throne, thee title and, presumably, plenty of chaos.
There is also a major change behind the scenes. Hannah Moscovitch will serve as showrunner and executive producer for Queen of the Damned. Rolin Jones, who guided the first three seasons, will remain involved as an executive producer alongside Moscovitch and Mark Johnson.
AMC has not announced a premiere date yet, but the rebrand makes the direction unmistakable: this is no longer merely a continuation of Interview with the Vampire. It is becoming a full television journey through Anne Rice’s wider vampire mythology, one book—and one dangerous immortal—at a time.
