According to The Earthshot Prize, the Prince traveled to the Impact Assembly aboard London’s 3,000th electric bus. Robert Irwin joined him on the ride, along with young London climate activists Clover Hogan and Pranav Sharma, for a conversation about the progress already taking place to protect the planet.

The assembly took place at London Guildhall during London Climate Action Week, with Earthshot bringing together winners, finalists, business leaders, government figures, philanthropy and society voices to spotlight solutions that are already moving beyond the “good idea” stage.

That is where Earthshot’s lane gets interesting. It is not simply about awards-night sparkle. It is about trying to scale the environmental ideas that have already shown proof: clean air, nature restoration, renewable energy, ocean protection, waste reduction and climate resilience.

The gallery captures Prince William and Robert Irwin’s London Earthshot outing, including the green bus arrival, public-transit optics and the environmental-award business that brought the duo together.

Robert’s presence is not just celebrity sparkle on the side. Earthshot lists him as a Global Ambassador, using his Australia Zoo background, wildlife work and conservation platform to bring Earthshot solutions to a wider audience.

And honestly, the pairing works. William brings the royal platform and institutional megaphone; Robert brings that wildlife-warrior warmth, conservation credibility and the Irwin-family glow that still makes people stop scrolling.

Earthshot also used the Impact Assembly to mark five years of progress, reporting that its finalists have collectively avoided or captured more than 18 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions, protected or restored major areas of land and ocean, and improved air quality in regions home to hundreds of millions of people.

So yes, the optics were cute. The bus was cute. Robert was, obviously, cute. But the bigger point was scale: taking environmental solutions out of the awards-show bubble and putting them in front of investors, leaders and the kind of people who can help make green ideas actually move.

Public transit as a royal entrance? Very on-message. A zero-emission double-decker as the backdrop? Even better. Environmental award business, but make it London-bus cinematic.
