Corrections Policy
How INYIM distinguishes routine edits from clarifications, meaningful updates and factual corrections after publication.
Our Approach
When INYIM publishes a material factual error, the goal is to correct the record clearly rather than quietly preserve a mistake. The response should be proportionate to the significance of the error and useful to readers.
Minor Fixes
Typos, grammar, spacing, formatting, broken links, image sizing, metadata, SEO fields and other changes that do not alter the substance of the reporting may be corrected without a formal correction note.
These routine maintenance changes do not automatically trigger INYIM’s meaningful-update timestamp.
Factual Corrections
A correction is appropriate when a published factual statement was wrong in a way that could affect reader understanding. The article should be amended, and a correction note should explain the substance of what changed without unnecessarily repeating harmful misinformation.
Preferred correction note: clear date + concise explanation of the factual error and correction. Exact wording may vary with the story.
Clarifications
A clarification may be used when the original wording was not strictly false but could reasonably create a misleading or incomplete impression. Clarifications should make the intended meaning explicit.
Meaningful Updates
New reporting, a direct statement, a changed outcome or other material new information may be labeled as an update rather than a correction when the original article was accurate at the time it was published.
INYIM maintains a manual meaningful-update timestamp workflow to distinguish substantive editorial changes from ordinary maintenance. Not every edit changes the visible updated time.
Takedowns + Unpublishing
INYIM generally prefers correction to deletion because preserving an accurate public record is usually more transparent. Removal or unpublishing may be considered in exceptional circumstances involving legal obligation, severe privacy or safety concerns, verified fraudulent material or another compelling editorial reason.
A request for removal does not guarantee removal. Each request is evaluated on its facts, the public-interest value of the material and applicable rights.
How to Request a Review
Use Contact the Newsroom and include the article URL, the exact sentence, image, caption or claim at issue, an explanation of what you believe is wrong, and reliable supporting material when available.
Credible requests are reviewed on their merits. We cannot guarantee a response to every message, but substantiated accuracy concerns are taken seriously.

Social + Distributed Content
If a material error was also distributed through an INYIM social account, the corresponding post may be corrected, updated or followed by a correction when appropriate and technically possible. When third parties have republished or relied on materially incorrect INYIM reporting, we may contact them when practical.
