Dionne Warwick Just Teased a Duet Worth Getting Excited About

Whoo-hoo! Dionne Warwick and Dolly Parton are finally putting their voices together.

During a January 3, 2023 appearance on Tamron Hall, Warwick revealed that Parton had sent her music to record — including one song the pair would sing together. That duet is a gospel number titled “Peace Like a River,” written by Parton.

Warwick said she was genuinely excited about the pairing, calling it especially meaningful despite the long list of duets she has already recorded across her career. “I’ve done so many duets over the years,” she explained, “but this one’s gonna be very special.”

And the connection carries an extra bit of music-history symmetry: Warwick’s late cousin Whitney Houston turned Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” into one of the defining recordings of the 1990s. Warwick even described the new collaboration as feeling “preordained.”

At this stage, no release date had been announced. What we did know was enough: Dolly wrote it, Dionne was singing it with her, and two of music’s most unmistakable voices were finally sharing a record.

Warwick’s appearance also touched on the side of her personality that has made her a whole new generation’s favorite online auntie — including those famously unfiltered tweets about Pete Davidson and Chance the Rapper.
