Over 4 years ago we introduced Ibibio Sound Machine on to our pages of preferred artists to look out for. Now the stellar saucy group has collaborating with another young legendary duo that changed the face of indie dance-electronic synthpop music since forming back in the early 2000s.
Hot Chip laid their production fingers on Ibibio's sparkling single entitled, 'Electricity'. Recording at Hot Chip's studio for the session.
Up-tempo analogue synths mixed with futuristic afrobeat rhythms. Ibibio Sound Machine have delivered yet another pulsating euphoric track but with new heights and measures sonically kissed by Hot Chip. Lead songbird Eno Williams said about the project in a following statement:
"Even in trying times, 'without love, there’s no electricity.' This one started out as an idea to mix Afrobeat with Giorgio Moroder–style synth vibes. The end section with Alfred’s korego (Ghanaian 2-stringed folk guitar) solo was already there when we got into the studio, but then we added the big kick drum that happens underneath and Owen from Hot Chip’s crazy drum machine percussion at the end, which gave it a futuristic Afro feel when mixed with the more talking drum parts."
