Karen O unleashed her new record, Lux Prima, a new nine-song collection project. Her first since she unraveled 2014's EP, Crush Songs. A standout and stellar track of this Danger Mouse featured album comes the easily catchy and all around feel good vibration tune "Turn The Light".
Karen debuted her album on Stephen Colbert's late night show with a dynamite performance we featured here. It's has a stellar smooth moody slick rock-pop groove aura. As a whole, O is sharing quite personal and truthful lyrics on multiple tracks including "Turn The Light". During an interview, she said the new single sprung from her appreciation of ’90s R&B dance music. Partner n' crime, Dangermouse cited Mary J. Blige as having a similar “feel” to the track.
Thee entire motif of the record is a self-indulgent, starry night look, into the side of going out into the nightlife: “This is how I wanna be. Gonna turn that dial-up. And that love will set me free. Starry, starry night. This is how I wanna be. Gonna let my body shine. And that love will set me free. Tonight, my love. We'll turn to light tonight.”
The rock songstress returned this year with a nuevo album with all her signature sounds of electrifying alternative and upbeat sonics. With this standout track, her dark and twisted yet yummy sunny approach takes flight once again.
A number which finds Miss O coming to terms with her sensitivity. She comes up with a powerful anthem which reminds all us likeminded artists, a word to the wise. Look through the glass, find the wrong within the past. Leave behind your heartache, like a castaway. The feel-good light will always come back to give back everything the darkness steals.
Without further ado. Let's get into the groove by pressing play on our favorite random album track. A unique cut off Karen O's latest album "Lux Prima" is "Turn The Light":
