Robyn is back. Her first solo release in seven years. Entitled “Dopamine,” the track arrives with a performance art video helmed by director Marili Andre—and yes, it features her child in a quiet, powerful and playful cameo.

Simply by saying Robyn is back is the greatest thing for the music world. Point blank. A case closed, next case.
Since her debut 30 years ago circa 1995, we’ve been following this pioneer’s career ever since. Recalling the OG days of spending allowance on her CDs and buying enough VHS cassette tapes to tape her live performances on TV.
Fresh music, bold entertainment, and men’s fashion—one tight email a week.
Now in 2025, her comeback tune “Dopamine” is out now via Young, the label founded by Jamie xx. The track is a hypnotic, synth-laced meditation on emotion, biology, and the space between. Produced by longtime collaborator Klas Åhlund, it blends club-ready pulse with cerebral introspection.

Robyn herself spilled the chemical inspiration behind it in a stellar press release:
“Everyone has a phone where they see their heart rate, and we’re learning how to decode our emotions through the hormones and chemical substances in our bodies… The doubleness of ‘Dopamine’ is having an emotion that is super real, super strong, intense, enjoyable or painful, and at the same time knowing that this is just a biological process in my body—and then not to choose religion or science. To just accept that they’re there together and to be able to go in between.”

The video, choreographed with surreal, rain-soaked vignettes, captures Robyn’s signature blend of vulnerability and movement. Her child’s appearance adds a layer of intimacy and generational resonance.
Mother Robyn is here and unapologetically so.
