Sophie Ellis-Bextor New Interview Celebrating 25 Years on from Debut.

It’s official: Sophie Ellis-Bextor is celebrating 25 years of dazzling pop brilliance with the release of her eighth studio album, Perimenopop. And yes, it’s a full-circle moment for the queen of British pop.

In a recent interview, Ellis-Bextor reflects on her journey from Read My Lips to Perimenopop, sharing how she’s found comfort in ageing and joy in reinvention. “I’m not trying to be 25 again,” she says. “I’m trying to be the best version of myself now.” She also discusses the unexpected resurgence of her 2001 hit “Murder on the Dancefloor,” which re-entered the charts after its viral feature in the film Saltburn.

Perimenopop is a celebration of grown-up joy, with tracks like “Freedom of the Night,” “Relentless Love,” “Taste,” and “Dolce Vita” leading the charge. The album’s title is a cheeky nod to the perimenopausal phase of life, turning what’s often whispered into a glittery, danceable anthem.

Originally known for her early 00s dance classics (Groove Jet/Make a Scene) and her fan loved kitchen disco livestreams during lockdown, Ellis-Bextor has become a cultural icon who continues to redefine pop music for women over 40.

She’s not just having a moment—she’s having a movement. Drop your favorite Sophie tracks in the comments. Are you feeling Perimenopop or still grooving with Trip the Light Fantastic?
