Porfirio Rubirosa was known as a premier playboy as a legendary icon of the 20th Century. He was Dominican born and raised and was popluar for not only his talents as a polo player, and car racer but primarily for being a casanova to the likes of Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, Veronica Lake, Rita Hayworth, and Zsa Zsa Gabor! Sheesh not too shabby.

Married 5 times and probably divorced just as many times, Rubirosa was said to have been a man who lived life to the fullest. And i’m sure that didn’t mean just his bedroom activities. He life served as an inspiration and as a muse for Ian Fleming “while creating James Bond & Harold Robbins when writing “The Adventurers” (a novel based apparently on Rubirosa’s life).”

Porfirio Rubirosa’s life came to a crashing and sad halt on July 5, 1965 when his Ferrari collided with a few trees at the Bois du Boulogne in Paris. Also noted as his favorite city. But like every great man and woman, his legend still lives on.

Above is a photo opt of Rubirosa & Zsa Zsa Gabor just getting to the Orly Airport in 1955. Ah the days when one cared about their own appearance like combing one’s hair while traveling with nothing but style and grace.
