What is Sebastian?
Sebastian is a unique larger-than-life steel statue of the model Sebastian Sauvé. Taking its main inspirations from the myth of Narcissus, Charles Ray’s Boy with Frog and the Greco-Roman depictions of the youth Antinous, this project is both an exploration of contemporary representations of the masculine form and a comment on the icon and its place in contemporary culture. Alongside the finished stainless steel statue, which will stand over 8 feet tall, a number of smaller identical limited edition versions are being produced. Once complete, the full-size statue will be exhibited internationally before finding a permanent home.
