Mariah Carey will be added to the long list of revered recording artists who have already received the MTV Video Vanguard Award—including Missy Elliott and Shakira.
Mariah will perform a career-spanning hits medley at the 2025 awards. The show is set to air live coast-to-coast on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on CBS, simulcast via MTV, and streaming on Paramount+.
After four astounding decades, Carey becomes the most veteran recipient of the Video Vanguard Award, which honors artists for their significant contributions to music videos and pop culture. Despite many nominations, this shall also be the first VMA the seminal, groundbreaking songbird will receive in her entire career!
