Back in 1981, Madonna was an unknown struggling music artist and in order to attempt to secure a record deal she began sending her demos to New York labels in hopes of a bite. Unfortunately for Madonna she was asked for more … well we all know what happened after.
1981: Not believing her to be “ready yet”, then-President of Millenium Records Jimmy Ienner politely turns down an aspiring singer by the name of Madonna after listening to four or her songs; his least favourite of which – Love On The Run – can be heard above. Her debut album was released by Sire Records just two years later, to mixed reviews. From lettersofnote.com
