Jeff Goldblum boards Alan Air for one delightfully unpredictable ride on the latest episode of Alan Carr’s travel-themed comedy podcast, Life’s a Beach.

What starts as a breezy travel chat quickly turns into a wonderfully meandering conversation about jazz standards, old Hollywood stories, touring with orchestras, and — unexpectedly — a surprisingly passionate debate about pickles.

Goldblum joins Carr to chat about his upcoming album Night Blooms, which the actor-musician describes with genuine affection as a celebration of the classic American songbook. The record leans into timeless jazz standards, including favorites like “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” and “Misty,” bringing them to life with lush arrangements and Goldblum’s signature piano touch.

Carr admits the album struck a chord with him personally, sharing that he put on the record during a rough weekend and found himself lifted by the warmth of the songs. Goldblum, clearly touched, talks about how these standards never seem to lose their magic — the kind of music that can instantly change the mood of a room.

The conversation also drifts into Goldblum’s live shows, which blend music, comedy, and a healthy dose of spontaneity. He reveals that upcoming performances will feature full orchestras, including appearances at iconic venues like London’s Royal Albert Hall and the Sydney Opera House, sometimes backed by a 57-piece orchestra.

But this being Alan Carr, the flight path rarely stays straight.

At one point the pair tumble into a hilarious tangent about snack foods, crisps, sandwiches, and pickles, with Goldblum admitting he’s surprisingly fond of pickled things — especially when piled onto a sandwich. The topic spirals further when Carr introduces his signature cocktail, the “Bloody Alan,” prompting Goldblum to confess his preference for a well-garnished Virgin Mary loaded with celery, olives, and anything else the bartender is willing to stack on top.

There’s also plenty of old Hollywood love scattered throughout the episode. Goldblum name-checks encounters with legends like Faye Dunaway, reflects on the enduring brilliance of Sharon Stone in Casino, and happily reminisces about classic cinema and the films that shaped him.

Then comes perhaps the most unexpected moment of the flight: Carr pitches Goldblum a horror comedy titled An American Were-MILF in London.

Rather than laughing it off, Goldblum gamely entertains the idea — proof that when Jeff Goldblum enters the conversation, the journey can go absolutely anywhere.

That’s really the charm of this episode. Even while discussing his new music and upcoming tour, Goldblum never sounds like he’s simply promoting a project. Instead, he drifts through topics with curiosity, humor, and that unmistakable Goldblum cadence.

The result is less like a standard interview and more like eavesdropping on a wonderfully strange dinner party conversation at 30,000 feet.

Some podcast guests answer questions. Jeff Goldblum turns the whole flight into a lounge act.
