It’s Not You It’s Me Media (INYIM) covers entertainment and culture with curiosity and clarity. Accuracy is the non-negotiable baseline. Here’s how we verify information before—and after—publishing.
Our Standard of Proof
- Primary sources first: Official statements, artist/label/publicist releases, studio/network notes, court filings, performance credits, and on-the-record interviews.
- Secondary corroboration: Established outlets with a track record of accuracy; we cite and link.
- Context checks: Dates, names, spellings, roles, rights holders, venues, and timelines.
Verification Workflow
- Assignment & scope: Editor and writer align on claims requiring verification.
- Source gathering: Pull primary documents, official sites, and direct contacts.
- Cross-check: Confirm at least two independent sources for contested or high-impact claims.
- Quote control: Quotes are verified against recordings or written correspondence.
- Data validation: Numbers, charts, credits, and award histories are double-checked.
- Final edit: Editor reviews sources and ensures citations/links are present.
Anonymous & Background Sources
- Rare, necessary, approved: Allowed only when anonymity protects safety or livelihood and information is material to the story.
- Corroboration required: Anonymous claims need supporting evidence or documents.
- Transparency to reader: We describe why anonymity was granted without exposing identity.
Rumors, Leaks, & Embargoes
- No rumor laundering: We do not present unverified gossip as reporting.
- Leaks handled cautiously: We verify documents/media before referencing; legal and ethical implications are reviewed.
- Embargoes honored when agreed; we do not trade coverage for access.
Corrections & Post-Publication Review
- Fix fast: If something’s wrong, we correct it promptly with a clear note.
- Update labels: Substantive additions are labeled “Update.”
- Reader feedback: Tips and corrections can be sent via Contact the Newsroom.
Citations & Linking
- Credit the originator: Link to original reporting and sources when they meaningfully inform our work.
- Avoid over-aggregation: Summaries must add value (context, analysis, original details).
