INYIM Media Preffered Show Series: ‘The Morning Show’ Recruits Oscar Winner Marion Cotillard For Season 4.
"The Morning Show has announced a big get for season four: Marion Cotillard is joining the cast of the Apple TV+ series. The Oscar winner joins the starry ensemble of the Apple TV+ media series that is led by executive producers Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, along with season three stars Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Greta Lee, Jon Hamm and Nicole Beharie. The Morning Show explores the cutthroat world of morning news and the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, and ended on another big cliffhanger with its third season.Cotillard’s role sounds like another force to be reckoned with for the returning news team at the show’s fictional UBA Network. She will play the character of Celine Dumont, who is described as a savvy operator from a storied European family. Some roles remain up in the air given how season three ended, including Hamm’s Paul Marks. (Spoiler alert!) Season three ended with an eleventh-hour coup from Aniston’s Alex Bradley, as she outsmarted love interest Paul, who was attempting to acquire the network by illegal means. The Elon Musk-inspired tech billionaire was sidelined by the merger, and the revelation forced the pair’s break up.When speaking recently to The Hollywood Reporter for an upcoming feature, returning showrunner and executive producer Charlotte Stoudt had teased that new characters would be joining the Emmy-winning series, as season four ushers The Morning Show (which is called TMS in the series) into a new era after the finale ended with UBA merging with a rival news brand. “Because there was a merger, an intended merger, there are new characters,” Stoudt told THR. And Witherspoon — whose resigned news anchor Bradley Jackson is now facing a possible felony charge after her finale decision — took that one step further to say, “I think they will be really fun (laughs) and challenging, for different points of view.”That could be where Cotillard’s character comes in. But whether or not she’s on the right or wrong side of the TMS truth-tellers, Cotillard is indeed a casting coup.On the small screen, Cotillard was last seen in the Apple TV+’s climate change anthology Extrapolations. The acclaimed actress has starred on the big screen in noteworthy films such as Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s Two Days, One Night, Jacques Audiard’s Rust and Bone, Nicole Garcia’s From the Land of the Moon, Robert Zemeckis’ Allied, James Grey’s The Immigrant, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises and Inception, Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion, Rob Marshall’s Nine, Michael Mann’s Public Enemies; Ridley Scott’s A Good Year and Tim Burton’s Big Fish, among others. In 2008, she became the second French actress to win an Oscar for her portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose. She was most recently seen starring in Mona Achache’s docudrama Little Girl Blue.Cotillard is repped at Agence Adequat in France, as well as in the US at CAA and Narrative.Developed by Kerry Ehrin, The Morning Show is executive produced by Aniston and Kristin Hahn through Echo Films; Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter through Hello Sunshine, a Candle Media company. The series is directed and executive produced by Mimi Leder, who executive produces and directs under a multi-year overall deal with Apple TV+, and is executive produced by Michael Ellenberg and produced by studio Media Res. Stoudt has a multi-year overall deal with Apple TV+ for scripted television series." - Hollywoodreporter.com
