Wednesday Whimsy: Mindy Kaling Jokes Her Daughter Mistook Her For VP Kamala Harris "I Have Never Felt So Hot, Or That My Daughter Was Being A Little Bit Racis*."

"Mindy Kaling has joked that in the past, her daughter has likened her to Vice President Kamala Harris.

While speaking during an event for President Joe Biden last month, the 44-year-old made light of what can be an awkward situation.

According to Jezebel, the actress joined Biden, former President Barack Obama, and additional celebrities and politicians at New York’s Radio City Music Hall for a campaign event that brought in more than $25 million in funds. While on stage as one of the evening’s hosts, Kaling decided to share how her children, Katherine, 5, and Spencer, 3 have influenced her political decisions.

“Not just because I want them to have reproductive rights and drinkable water but also, a true story—one time when my daughter was 2 years old, she saw Kamala Harris on TV, and she thought it was me,” she quipped of her support of the Democratic party.

“I have never felt so hot, or that my daughter was being a little bit racist,” she joked, as she and Harris share Indian heritage. “It’s fine.”

With attendees including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Queen Latifah, Lizzo, and Cynthia Erivo, uninvited guests made the big headlines. During the event, protestors opposed to Biden’s approach to the ongoing deadly violence in Palestine disrupted the event to express their disdain for the administration.

“It is also possible for us to say we unequivocally support the people of Israel and their ability to live and raise families and so forth, which is what Joe’s position has been, and it is also possible for us to have our hearts broken — watching innocent people being killed and trying to manage through that in a way that ultimately leads to both people being able to live in peace side by side. So that is not an easy task,” explained Obama to a demonstrator.

“You can’t just talk and not listen… That’s what the other side does.” He added, “It is possible for us to understand that it is possible to have moral clarity and have deeply held beliefs, but still recognize that the world is complicated and it is hard to solve these problems.” - Vibe.com
