Whoo-Hoo! Streaming Ratings For ‘Young Sheldon’ Stays At No. 1 As 2023 Ends & 2024 Begins.

"The final week of 2023 was another big one for Young Sheldon, as it claimed the top spot in Nielsen’s streaming rankings for a second straight week. Disney+ got more strong returns from Percy Jackson and the Olympians as well.

Young Sheldon scored 1.31 billion minutes of viewing time on Netflix and Max for the week of Dec. 25-31, topping second-place Bluey (1.11 billion) by about 200 million minutes. The Crown (1.04 billion minutes) also topped the billion-minute mark for Netflix.

Reacher currently sits at 943 million minutes of viewing for the week, but that total for the Prime Video series doesn’t include its two most recent episodes. Per Nielsen, “Due to an interruption in audio asset capture on Amazon Prime Video, reporting for streaming titles released onto the service between 12/20/23 and 1/16/24—including movies, series and episodes added during that time—are delayed and not able to be included in this interval’s dataset.” Revised figures will be out in early February and will likely put Reacher over the 1 billion minute threshold for the third consecutive week; the 943 million minutes reflects viewing for the 11 episodes of the series released before Dec. 20.

As for Percy Jackson, the series grew to 700 million minutes of viewing on Disney+ for the week its third episode debuted. That’s a 22 percent improvement on its premiere week. The show has had Disney+’s biggest launch to date for a series that’s not part of the Star Wars or Marvel universes.

Speaking of Marvel, the animated series What If …? had its best showing ever with 513 million minutes of viewing. Disney+ released the second season over nine consecutive days beginning Dec. 22. The Mexican dramedy The Manny (555 million minutes) and Money Heist spinoff Berlin (274 million) made their debuts on the original series chart.

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon: Part 1 led the movie charts for the second straight week with 974 million minutes of viewing. That’s a slight bump from 966 million minutes for its first week.

Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries. The top streaming titles for Dec. 25-31, 2023, are below.
