Mark Your Calendar On US: The Grammys Announce Concert Special Honroing 50 Years Of Hip-Hop 'A Grammy Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop,' Out Dec. 10 Via CBS.

"The Recording Academy is continuing its year-long celebration of Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary with a special two-hour Grammy telecast featuring some of the culture’s most legendary artists.

The concert special, titled A Grammy Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop, will air Sunday (Dec. 10) on CBS and will include performances by LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Rakim, and over a dozen other rap artists.

A Grammy Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop will be taped on Nov. 8 at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, Calif., and will feature Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and LL Cool J as executive producers of the show. Other artists slated to take the stage include Common, Black Thought, De La Soul, Jermaine Dupri, Bun B, Uncle Luke, Yo-Yo, Talib Kweli, J.J. Fad, The Lady of Rage, MC Sha-Rock, Monie Love, The Pharcyde, Questlove, and Remy Ma. More performers are to be announced at a later date.

Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, spoke on the Grammys’ focus on Hip-Hop as the world acknowledges its 50th year of existence. “For five decades, Hip-Hop has not only been a defining force in music, but a major influence on our culture,” he said. “Its contributions to art, fashion, sports, politics, and society cannot be overstated. I’m so proud that we are honoring it in such a spectacular way on the Grammy stage. It is just the beginning of our year-long celebration of this essential genre of music.”

A Grammy Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop airs Dec. 10 from 8:30-10:30 p.m. ET/8-10 p.m. PT on CBS. The special will be available to stream live or on demand via Paramount+." - Vibe.com
