INYIM Media Altruists: Marcia Gay Harden Demonstrates Dedication & Sensibility Ubering Seven Hours For Aspen Charity Event.

"Nothing can keep Marcia Gay Harden from a good cause.

When the “So Help Me Todd” actress’ flight from Denver to Aspen was canceled, she Ubered seven hours to make it on time to host the inaugural Aspen Snow Ball gala on Saturday — all without her luggage.

“Spoiler alert… Aspen ain’t easy!” she wrote via Instagram. “Flights cancelled leading to 7 hr Uber ride from Denver to Aspen in a snowstorm! Bags NEVER showing up leading to no skiing, nothing to wear.”

“Life is unpredictable,” the star added.

We hear the “Law & Order SVU” alum got help from designer brand Ralph Lauren, borrowing a dress and getting ready in just an hour for the evening that raised $2.5 million for the Children’s Oncology Support Fund.

“I had to get 10 dresses for her to pull from, undergarments, jewelry, and hair and make-up,” fund founder and event chair Thomas Pierce tells us of the fashion emergency.

We’re told several celebrities who were less intrepid than Harden were unable to make it to the ritzy Colorado ski town after seven flights from LA were canceled.

“We were able to sell all the seats to the local Aspen community last minute, so it was a sold out event,” Pierce tells us.

Getting to Aspen can be famously difficult, with flights into the tiny airport regularly canceled in bad weather. Zoey Deutch once famously hitchhiked her way there for a glamorous Saks dinner, and we recently reported that Sandra Bernhard found herself wild scrambling to make it to a live gig in town.

For the gala, private jets were able to make it in, we hear, with planes arriving from Paris, Palm Beach, London, Australia, and more.

Attendees included Denise Rich, who was honored for her charity Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research, artist Bradley Theodore, and “Emily in Paris” star William Abadie.

Diana Ross performed at the glam gala at the St. Regis.

The singer’s son, Evan Ross, was there with wife Ashlee Simpson and bought a $10,000 balloon — which winning bidders popped to try and win a prize.

In addition to the main event, the ASPENX Mountain Club and Chopard held a welcome party. There was also a VIP dinner the night before thrown by Casa Del Sol Tequila at the hip Snow Lodge, and an afterparty with a performance by Macy Gray.

“I couldn’t be any more grateful that my vision came to life and I can’t wait for next year to make it even bigger and better,” Pierce tells us. “We hope to land this on the global charity calendar.”

On Sunday, several attendees — as well as Avril Lavigne, and her rocker fiance Mod Sun — were back at Jayma Cardoso’s Snow Lodge to see Gray perform again, this time pulling Ross’ son Evan on stage for a duet of one of his mom’s songs.

“It was really cute, at first Evan joked he couldn’t sing one his mom’s songs, saying ‘There is only one Diana Ross,'” said a spy who added the pair did a rendition of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”" - Hollywoodreporter.com
