Debuted on Friday, the animated video comes as part of BET‘s “My Black Is” series for February. The video opens with a simple message stating, “Now more than ever, the message of this song resonates across the globe…” From there, the upbeat opening piano riff kicks off the song as listeners are flooded with Sly & The Family Stone’s iconic blend of psychedelic soul music. The video portrays people of all different races, ages, and backgrounds getting on in the world together. With the use of vibrant colors and vintage-looking animation styles, the new video for “Everyday People” embodies that same spirit of the cultural revolution of the 1960s while also holding a mirror up to modern society. The “Everyday People” video serves as the “My Black Is History” installment of BET’s “My Black Is” series. Each week during Black History Month, the television network releases media under the “My Black Is” banner. The first week was the “My Black Is Power” playlist on Spotify, followed the next week by the re-release of The Fugees‘ music video for the hit song “Killing Me Softly“—which was previously unavailable in the United States—for “My Black Is Love”. - liveforlivemusic.com
