Billie Eilish Spills Astounding Inspiration Behind Stellar Single 'My Future' And You Won't Guess Who...Click On The Story To Find Out! It's Michael Bublé and apparently now the twosome are BFFs.
"Where does Billie Eilish's musical inspiration come from? The deepest depths of her dark soul? Blumhouse horror movies? Early 19th century cholera diaries? Try Michael Bublé. Yeah, you read that right. In an interview with BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac, Eilish revealed that the concept for her summer single, "My Future," had a surprisingly effervescent genesis.
“The idea came subconsciously from a video that I found of myself from when I was, I think, 13 or 14,” Eilish said. “My Snapchat was like, ‘Four years ago today…’, and it was this video of me, I think at 14, and I was listening to ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’ by Michael Bublé." In fact, at that age, Eilish said she used to listen to the bouncy 2009 pop ditty "night and day just because it make me hopeful. I was also really depressed at the time and sad all the time, and that song made me excited for the future."
Eilish said she sent the throwback video to a friend, who responded, "'True, that is sad, but at the same time, I love this video of you because it almost looks like you're talking about your future self like, I just haven't met you yet, and I'm excited to meet you.'" Billie was glad she got it. "'That’s so cute,'" She said to her pal. "I didn’t even think about that until after I had written the chorus, but I knew that it was subconscious. I was totally thinking about that. It was so exactly what I was feeling and thinking and wanted to convey and wanted to say and wanted to be heard.”
Well, Bublé caught wind of her kind words and he tweeted a response on Wednesday (Dec. 16), writing, "Hey .@billieeilish I’m a huge fan. I just heard your story about 'Haven’t Met You Yet.' Music is a great healer and writing really helped me during some tough times. Your music inspires me and I am so touched that mine has done the same for you.”
Eilish's brother and main collaborator Finneas couldn't believe it, responding, "BUBLE HAS SPOKEN." Eilish will likely reveal much more in her upcoming AppleTV+ documentary, Billie Eilish: TheWorld's a Little Blurry, which will debut on Feb. 21, 2021
