"Today (Jan. 29), the teen comedy classic (sure, why not?) She’s All That celebrates its 20th anniversary. There’s plenty that comes to mind when you think of the Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachael Leigh Cook vehicle, like the leading lady’s iconic transformation from hot nerd to hot non-nerd set to the sounds of Sixpence None the Richer’s “Kiss Me.”
Of course, if you grew up watching She’s All That, then the scene that likely had the biggest impact on your adolescence was the prom, a scene in which high school students choreographed a dance to Fatboy Slim’s “The Rockafeller Skank,” which just so happened to be emceed by their classmate, Usher. It’s hard to find something more '90s than that. See for yourself.
Not only did She’s All That set unattainable expectations of what a prom should look like, it rounded out a decade that was packed with absolutely amazing, and sometimes downright absurd, dance sequences in movies.

Travolta. Thurman. Chuck Berry’s “You Can Never Tell.” Need we say more? Arguably the most iconic dance scene, and certainly the coolest, of the '90s (who wasn’t doing the twist and peace sign move in 1994?), it’s still just as badass and memorable nearly 25 years later.
Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion
Imagine showing your snobby high school classmates how awesome you’ve become by doing a unique interpretive dance with your BFF and a billionaire set to Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” in killer homemade dresses that you guys made? Put that on your Post-It and stuff it, A-Group.
House Party
No movie dance list is complete without a dance-off, and House Party is the granddaddy of all dance-offs. Kid ‘N Play set the standard, not just for what a proper house party should look like, but how you should be dancing at said party and the soundtrack to set it to.
Swingers
Swing music was a big deal in the mid-'90s (go ahead and ask your Gen-X elders about it) and nothing captured that moment in time better than the aptly named classic Swingers.
10 Things I Hate About You
The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize” can get anyone up and moving, including your uptight, poetry-loving older sis in this teen comedy darling. We like to think this was Julia Stiles audition tape for Save the Last Dance, and she nailed it.
The First Wives Club
The song and dance sequence set to “You Don’t Own Me” has been inspiring women who are over it for decades. Case in point: nearly twenty years after the film’s release, Ariana Grande paid homage to the movie’s finale during a performance of her own power anthem “Thank U, Next" on Ellen.
The Best Man
If you still put “The Electric Slide” on your no-play list at your wedding after The Best Man, that just means you were doing it wrong. Watch the scene above and take notes.
The Full Monty
Before there was Magic Mike, there was The Full Monty. And while the '90s may have us beat in a lot of ways (back then Donald Trump was someone we all still made fun of, but he wasn’t a threat to our livelihood and overall humanity), they didn’t have us beat in male strippers. Still, their hearts were in the right place, especially during their final number.
Strictly Ballroom
Baz Luhrmann knows how to make a dance scene (see: Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby), but nothing beats the scenes in Strictly Ballroom, particularly the “disqualifying” and electrifying paso doble.
Titanic
Sure, the folks in steerage all died first, but at least they knew how to party the hardest.
