"Guaynaa closed out Billboard’s 2020 Latin Music Week Artist Showcase on Friday, Oct. 23, bringing down the house with renditions of his songs “Mera,” “Rompe Rodillas,” and “Chicharrón.” His presentation was sponsored by beverage company Estrella Jalisco.
From the moment the 28-year-old was set to hit the stage, the Puerto Rican performer made sure to tell the audience that he “came to give [them] a show.” Decked in an ink-splattered shirt and navy blue ensemble, Guaynaa ran through his energetic tunes, which are found on his 2020 EP BRB Be Right Back. Midway through his performance, he uncapped bottles of Estrella Jalisco with his DJ and band, toasting to life, love, and hope.
“Soon we’ll be able to toast together and our glasses will be able to clink again,” he affirmed. Before starting his performance, he assured that he would put on a great show for those watching at home in need of spirit-lifting music.
Near his performance’s end, Guaynaa signs a blue and white guitar placed on stage, and one lucky fan will be able to take home this special memento from his set. Guaynaa’s star has steadily risen since the release of his song “Rebota” featuring Nicky Jam and Farruko, which peaked at No. 35 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart in April 2019 and is certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA’s Latin division. (The remix, featuring Becky G and Sech, peaked at No. 28 in August 2019.) Since then, the Universal Music signee has worked with Yandel, Lele Pons, Rafa Pabón and many more artists.
