"Selena Quintanilla’s legacy continues to shine as her fourth studio album Amor Prohibido celebrates 25 years this week.

Released on March 13, 1994, via Capitol Latin/ UMLE, Selena’s album is home to 10 tracks, including her timeless singles “Amor Prohibido,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” “No Me Queda Mas,” and “Fotos y Recuerdos.”

The set, produced by her brother A.B. Quintanilla, revolutionized Tejano music in the ‘90s, fusing the genre with blends of hip-hop, ranchera, cumbia, and electronic beats.

“Amor Prohibido” became Selena’s first album to hit No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart dated June 11, 1994, where it crowned for 20 non-consecutive weeks.

Two months before, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Album chart dated April 9, 1994, where it remained for 97 non-consecutive weeks; the most weeks at No. 1 for an album overall in the history of the chart.

In addition, it was Selena’s first chart entry on the Billboard 200 where it peaked at No. 29 on chart dated May 6, 1995, remaining a total of 23 weeks on the chart."  - Billboard.com
