“It has some old songs and some new songs, and a couple of covers from sheffield bands (this wasn’t intentional, but it just worked out that way. we’re not moving to sheffield). Nancy sings on one, and al and I do our best Phil Oakey impressions on another. One of those songs is our take on Heaven 17’s classic “(We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang.”
Now carebears, we get to hear the yummy new single that's got our musical tailspins in a twirl. LCD have covered a phenomenal electric take on the legendary group Human League and their 1981 synthpop new wave smash “Seconds.”
“Seconds” is featured from the Human League’s breakout record "Dare." Following “Don’t You Want Me?”, Dare was the album where the Human League brand went full success commercial-appeal.
“Seconds” is ethereal yet postpunk. LCD's version is impeccably recreated. James Murphy does Phil Oakey justice on it. A pulsating power-pop rhythm and chorus section that is a golden ramjam in either of its forms.
Without further ado get into the groove with LCD Soundsystem and their rich rockin' ditty on the beautiful cover from 1980's band The Human League!
And while you’re at it, you might as well stream all of Electric Lady Sessions:
