"Christina Aguilera's new album Liberation drops this Friday (Jun 15), so to celebrate, Billboard is taking a look back at all of her music videos to date. From 1998’s “Reflection” to her recently dropped “Fall In Line” video with Demi Lovato, here is Christina Aguilera’s music video evolution.
The journey kicks off with “Reflection,” which was written for Disney’s Mulan, and then moves on to her 1999 breakout hit “Genie in a Bottle,” which spent five weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, followed by “What a Girl Wants.”
The year 2000 saw the release of Aguilera’s All-4-One cover of “I Turn to You,” along with “Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You),” which made all teenage girls want to get red streaks in their hair just like hers. That same year, she released Spanish-language videos for “Genio Atrapado,” "Por Siempre Tú" and “Pero Me Acuerdo de Ti."
Next, 2001 marked some of Aguilera’s most memorable collaborations, including Ricky Martin’s “Nobody Wants to be Lonely” and the iconic “Lady Marmalade” remake with Lil’ Kim, Mya, and P!nk.
In 2002, fans met a new version of Christina with videos like “Dirrty” and “Beautiful.” Speaking of the Stripped era, Aguilera recently told Billboard that it was “the beginning of that new chapter” for her because she was able to, for the first time, be herself “outside of the bottle -- the genie was set free.”
Aguilera released a cover of “Car Wash” in 2004 with Missy Elliott for the animated film Shark Tale, as well as a team-up with Nelly, “Tilt Ya Head Back,” while 2006 saw her collab with Diddy, “Tell Me.”
“Candyman” premiered in 2007 with a retro-themed video featuring three different Christina's, as well as So You Think You Can Dance season two winner Benji Schwimmer. Bionic-era Christina Aguilera saw videos including "Not Myself Tonight" and "You Lost Me," while in 2011, she joined Maroon 5 for their “Moves Like Jagger.”
In 2012, Christina warned viewers that "no men were harmed in the making of this video" for “Your Body.” The following year she jumped on tracks with Pitbull and Alejandro Fernández, while in 2013, she worked with Great Big World on “Say Something.”
Christina Aguilera’s music video evolution then takes us to 2018, with “Accelerate” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chainz, and the empowering “Fall In Line” with Demi Lovato.
“’Fall In Line’ is as much about supporting each other as it is about self-empowerment,” Aguilera wrote on Twitter. “I wanted to convey that in this video by visually representing the imprisonment that so many of us have felt, and the freedom we can achieve TOGETHER.”
